The Hallway,

Petts Wood

The fit-out of a home's entrance hallway and circulation spaces, including design and fabrication of bespoke furniture.

The project reimagines the potential of a hallway challenged by window placement, entrance and utility room door alignment, radiator positioning, and a non-linear layout. The design fully embraces the intricacies of the space, offering a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics. It features a coat hanging frame, a shoe storage bench, drawers in varying sizes, bag shelving, a radiator cover with open display shelves. Further enhancing the layout is a low-level shallow corridor storage unit, introducing an inviting touch with warm lighting. Crafted from sustainable birch plywood and utilizing premium Hafele and Lamello components, the flat-pack design ensures straightforward assembly without specialized tools.

Plywood: Material of the Modern World
Today, plywood is more popular than ever. It is especially used on digital platforms and cut with computer-controlled machinery. Plywood's aesthetic is also central to contemporary design and making. Its exposed edges, simple joints and visible woodgrain reflect a wider interest in natural, sustainable materials and simple (often DIY) construction.
